What Is Vision Therapy?

Vision Therapy works by creating better communication between the 2 key parts of the visual system: the brain & the eyes. Establishing this communication may include correcting eye alignment, improving eye movements and coordination, and modifying how we process visual information.

Vision Therapy, under the direction of Dr. Montgomery, involves weekly in-office sessions, as well as structured at-home activities to reinforce the visual skills learned during in-office visits.

These visual skills are possible by using specialty equipment that gives patients feedback about how they perform each task, allowing for adjustments and see the results of those adjustments in real-time. With this real-time feedback, patients quickly learn how to modify their behavior to perform each task correctly.

Once a visual skill is learned and reinforced in Vision Therapy, the patient has attained that skill for life. It is not something that requires continuous maintenance. Vision Therapy works, and is a permanent solution for many functional and binocular vision problems!
